The Move From ____,
Feb 2011

This was my first time dealing with a larger moving company and really didn't know the difference between using a broker vs. company. Save your sanity and probably money and use the trusted companies that are available.

After the broker, Michael L., received my deposit, it was like poof, I didn't matter anymore because he had me locked in. Not only did I have to do all the calling to the company and figuring out of what I was required to do, it was excuse after excuse of why I wasn't called back. I was on hold an average of 25-35 minutes each call to customer service. No one was capable of locating Michael when I really needed to talk to him. I was told that he was in the office for 3 days straight and then finally got a call from him that he had been out sick. No one covered his calls for him, unprofessional. When he apologized multiple times and told me that I would hear from him before the end of the business day (on 3 separate accounts) I did not. The only time I heard back was when I brought up a lawyer.

The customer service representative, Latoya, was very rude and brushed me off every time I asked if the parking permit was taken care of for the city of Boston. Her response was always, "Mama, we move people to Boston all the time, we know what has to be done." And yet, 1 day before my move, Brenda from customer service called and told me, "Mama, we don't take care of that, you're going to have to do that on your own." A permit for a moving truck in Boston has to be posted for at least 48 hours and I was living in Buffalo, NY. I didn’t have times for the movers until less than 24 hours before my move. I was also told that I had someone assigned to me but I did not hear from this representative, it was by chance that I got a hold of her on one of my many calls to customer service.

There are many more instances that I can give but the bottom line is that this was the MOST unorganized, FOS company that I have ever dealt with. Basically I was told what I wanted to hear so no one had to listen to me tell them they weren't doing their jobs properly and why I had to follow up with them. For the amount of work I saved them for calling I should have been compensated, as I was not.
This was a very stressful move for me as I'm sure it is for everyone who relocates out-of-state. The move cost $350 more than estimated, plus $115 for the permit pullers to post the permit, I was unable to fly and leave my car because there was no communication for dates and times until less than 24 hours.

I would NOT; let me repeat, WOULD NOT, recommend this company to anyone, even people I don’t care for. I will be sure to do my part to spread the word of my horrible experience and make sure they lose business as companies as such do not deserve anyone’s money.

Business's response - by JasonVon 3/5/2011
World Moving Services does apologize to Ms. Basehore that her experience during her relocation was anything but exceptional. Our company was hired as a moving coordinator/shipper’s agent to provide Ms. Basehore with coordinated services for her move from New York to Massachusetts. Please be advised that our office did make Ms. Basehore aware that our company would provide the carrier, and her building with the certificate of insurance, however that the parking permit would have to be obtained on her end. We do sincerely apologize if there was any miscommunication in regards to that situation. Please be advised that our representatives did provide Ms. Basehore with all information prior to her relocation and all members including our management support team maintained constant contact with Ms. Basehore until she had confirmed her delivery and receipt of goods. As a moving coordinator/shipper’s agent we strive to ensure that all relocations are successful, and that all customers receive the best possible service during this stressful time.
