** Beware** This company operates under the name "Pat Nyman Blinds and Shutters." We were in the market for shutters for our entire house and saw their advertisement in one of the local magazine mailers. I called the number, spoke to “Pat,” and set up an appointment to have someone come over to give us an estimate. I set an appointment for the following day at 9:00 AM. I made sure the appointment was early because I had a doctor’s appointment at 11:30 AM. The next day the salesman didn’t show up until 10:45 AM. When I told him he was late, he said the appointment was supposed to be for anytime between 9-11 AM. He stated their appointments are set up with time blocks and never for a specific time. Since I was getting ready for my doctor’s appointment, I told him we were unable to meet with him and he left (apparently, not happy). A couple of minutes later, Pat called and my wife answered the phone. Enraged, Pat told my wife the appointment was between 9-11 AM and insisted they were not late for the appointment. When my wife (who has a lot more patience than I do) tried to tell him we understood the appointment was at 9 AM, he told my wife to “F*** off!” and hung up the phone. When my wife told me what had happened, I contemplated calling Pat back (to give him a piece of my mind), but I figured he and his company were not worth the anguish. In the same magazine where I found Pat Nyman’s advertisement, there are literally a dozen listings for other shutter companies. I called four of them, set up appointments, and had absolutely no problems with them. In fact of all the trades out there, we found the window treatment trade to be surprisingly and pleasantly professional, except for Pat Nyman of course. And trust me, we’ve done a lot of re-modeling to our home and dealt with a lot of people from a lot of trades. The four shutter companies that we dealt with all came on time at their appointed time – none of them used time blocks. (In fact, one guy came 15 minutes early, parked on the street, and waited in his car until his appointment time. If I had known it was him, I would have called him in). They all gave good presentations, answered all our questions, and were EXTREMELY competitive (2 of them were willing to match or beat any competitor’s price). They all wanted our business and treated us as such. With that said, why would anyone want to do business with a company that is as unprofessional and vulgar as Pat Nyman?
