Review 2/24/2010
11 February, 2010

Roi Edery of Silverstar Remodeling Inc. worked on our kitchen remodel starting in mid-November 2009 and nearly everything was done quickly and expertly by Christmas of the same year. That’s right: it took only weeks, and not the months and months so common to kitchen remodels. And our job wasn’t just a facelift. Nearly everything was removed from our kitchen: flooring, countertop, cabinetry, fixtures, plumbing, slab plumbing, appliances, window, ceiling soffit, and exterior wall drywall. We kept most of two interior walls. That was it. Roi’s work for us encompassed everything a discriminating homeowner might dream of. From the initial meeting to design through construction to the finishing details, Roi handled all details to an amazing degree of thoroughness, follow-through, good-natured aplomb, and sterling professionalism. Nearly all of his workers were of the highest caliber, exemplified by their can-do attitudes, willingness to work very hard and long, and especially the fine craftsmanship evidenced in our new superlative kitchen.

Not given to hyperbole (theoretical physicist and retired financial analyst) or undeserved praise, we wholeheartedly declare that Roi is the kind of contractor that can make one very happy during the job and after the project is completed. We’ve undergone remodels before, and we’re aware of the surprises that can occur when walls are opened or the concrete slab is dug up. No matter what eventuated with our kitchen remodeling, Roi maintained his easy-going yet highly professional equanimity. Every time a major or minor glitch occurred, not for want of Roi’s intelligent planning, but our old house had some unpleasant surprises (like when the newly exposed overhead beams in the kitchen were straight and true, but our large decorative beams from a previous remodel were glaringly not), Roi worked to cogently solve the impossible-to-foresee problems that nearly always happen with remodeling older homes. He worked quickly, smoothly, and expertly to ensure that the work progressed at good speed and with superior workmanship.

Of somewhat discriminating taste, we required and expected sterling performance. At the same time, we had previously worked with other contractors on past remodeling jobs. Unfortunately for Roi, we approached our kitchen remodeling project with some trepidation. He faced a torrent of questions from us in the initial phases at nearly every turn. We were remarkably surprised by Roi’s ability to answer all questions to our complete satisfaction, but also have us consider other options. Sometimes Roi would tell us what simply would and wouldn’t work, and of course, with the kind of clients he had, he explained himself. And talk about attention to detail. We thought we were quite methodical and thorough, given our professional backgrounds. We were continually surprised, and pleasantly so, by Roi’s nearly encyclopedic memory off the top of his head of past discussions, emails, and phone calls, no matter how minute the details about our kitchen remodel. He remembered everything -- for the benefit of our kitchen! Clearly, Roi cared about our kitchen as much as we did! Now we thoroughly understand why his references spoke so highly of Roi. This extraordinary designer/contractor deserves every bit of lofty praise, and more.

Our kitchen was not a run of the mill remodeling job. During the construction, we came across some wonderful fossils and decided to incorporate them in our remodeling project. While we were blissfully ignorant of how our new addition of fossils to the kitchen walls might affect the kitchen progress, and how our changing the wall tile from travertine 4” tile to 5/8” mosaic tile might slow down the tiling installation didn’t enter our thought processes, Roi worked with our new requests so professionally that when we realized our blunder, he made us feel at ease. (It was only later when the mosaic tile was being installed did we realize what a difference changing the tile size had made in Roi’s construction plans.) Additionally, our addition of fossils meant careful attention to detail was of paramount importance. While some pieces weren’t costly, one larger fossil would have been hard to replace if it were damaged. Roi treated this large specimen (350-400 million years old) with respect and directed his workers to handle with extreme care. It now is beautifully displayed in our handsome new kitchen.

Without a doubt, we would hire Roi again. He designed, constructed, and created a gorgeous kitchen that we use every single day. (A gourmet cook puts the kitchen through its paces.) We’ve received so many compliments about our new, beautiful kitchen, and we couldn’t be more pleased by the increased storage, enhanced functionality, and ease of use in this marvel of a kitchen. In fact, we’re hiring Roi yet again. We’re having Roi design a more spacious master bath for us to replace our tiny bathroom. We know he’ll make us happy! We couldn’t ask for a better or more qualified contractor.

Very truly yours,
