My garage installed an OCA remanufactured starter motor. The Orange County Alternators (OCA) product is made by BBB Industries. Once installed, the starter motor turned over just fine, but the car wouldn't start. After 2 months, 3 garages, and $1,800.00, the problem turned out to be the starter motor was interfering with the car's computer, disrupting the ignition timing. The newly installed starter motor was defective. The solution was to put in another (brand) starter motor.
I was able to persuade BBB Industries to test the starter. However, BBB Industries only performed what appear to be standard bench tests, and claimed the starter motor was not defective. This, in my opinion, was inadequate to reveal the flaw that would cause interference with the car's computer. When asked, they refused to perform other tests to determine that the starter would interfere with the ignition timing. When asked for a copy of the test report, they wouldn't respond. They wouldn't acknowledge that their testing system didn't test for interference with the car's computer. I asked them what they would say to another customer if that customer called him with a similar problem. They refused to answer my question.

If you need a starter motor or an alternator, OCA is not the brand to buy.
