Received an offer from First Mortgage West of L.A. in June 2011, and began what appeared to be a very professional relationship to refinance a second home.
I checked them out on-line and with the BBB (A+ rating), and found only one negative review (person complained that the requirement to hold a years payments during the 'seasoning' period seemed odd and quit the process).
Things were progressing...after I wired the required funds, they completed an appraisal, and advised that funding would occur on or about 10/5/11. That email was 9/27/11, and I have not heard from anyone since. My contact was Michael Walker.
Have made repeated attempts both by phone and email, and contacted the FBI, who has a special agent assigned to the numerous complaints received about this company. As of 10/8/11, the following FMW numbers are not in service...800-921-9813, 800-288-0605.
(I posted a similar notice on Scambook.com but stated AAA+ rating...meant A+. Additionally, the FBI directed me to agent Carmen Dearc, tel.# 562-590-6665 who is supposed to be handling the case on First Mortgage West.
