We spoke with Avid Law Center and paid a $4,000.00 retainer. We were very clear upfront that we were not under a hardship. We were repeatedly "re-assured" that this wouldn't be an issue as it was "based on the other factors" such as the time we bought our house, securitization, and a so-called "meeting of the minds".
After 2 weeks, we heard back quickly that we were denied for any settlement that we were seeking due to a lack of hardship.
It wasn't until this time that we were told that the law firm has in fact never won or even completed a litigation lawsuit against a lender.
We were mis-lead by the firm from the start for which they take no accountability and you can do this process for free directly through your lender. DO NOT pay a law firm to do it for you.
We researched them online and found good reviews which we now find very hard to believe based on our experience.
In response to Avid Law's post above:
They are absolutely right that they recommended we move forward with the lawsuit/litigation and we were unwilling to pay to do so. But we must re-iterate that this firm has in fact, never won or even completed a litigation lawsuit against a lender and we must advise others to be leery of working with a firm without a success record.
Had this been disclosed to us from the start, we would have never agreed to move forward, even with the initial settlement proposal.
