Always get a 2nd and 3rd opinion

Perhaps I was an isolated case from what I see on the rest of the reviews but I got ripped off of $450. I had came to 1st Choice Lending as my first option for a Refinance quote and as is customary I also went out and shopped for a 2nd opinion. After receiving my 2nd quote I realized I would be saving a good amount in costs with my 2nd choice and I advised Anthony of this as well as to let him know to refund the $450 charged to my credit card as the appraiser had not come out to the property yet. He instantly offered me the other lender's total cost minus a whopping $1000. Estimated $2700 give or take. I agreed! He agreed! He even sent me an email agreeing to this. He sent me a Loan Estimate which didn't show this and basically still showed same figures with total cost at $6000, however he insisted it would all change come final disclosures because it was updated in his system. Gullible me went ahead and scheduled the appraiser to come and appraise. Now the final disclosures and closing statement are adjusted and lo and behold, over $6000 in costs. What?.. I realized what was happening here.. Bait and switch all so that they didn't have to refund $450. So I went for a 3rd quote through AimLoan and lo and behold, $2750 in total costs AND a lower rate with all my debt to be paid off. I sent Anthony the proof and asked why the high costs on his end and he insisted that the cash out to me would pay for some of my debt never accepting the fact that he did not come through with our Agreement let alone that $4000 of my debt was still going be unpaid. Made me pay the $450 knowing that I was never going to get the offer we had discussed. People beware of bad practice. Always go out and get other quotes without ever scheduling an appraiser to come out and without getting your offer on paper because some people's word is worth $450.
