Is Resort Professionals a legitimate timeshare company?

I am trying to find out if Resort Professionals is a legitimate company. I have timeshare property through SPG (aka: Starwood) and they partner with Interval International (II). I have unused weeks with II and Resort Professionals would like to have "companies and individual households" bid on my unused weeks. If a bid comes in, Resort Professionals will contact me to accept, deny or counter the bid. If the bid is accepted I will receive a cashiers check within 24 to 72 hours. The catch is I need to pay an upfront cost, which can be refunded if I am not satisfied with the results.

Over the years, there have been a lot of companies that came to life with the promise of helping people sell their timeshares. Most of these companies are located in areas where there are a lot of timeshares, like Florida and California.
Typically, they make a lot of promises about their abilities and claim that there is an army of people dying to purchase timeshares, and all of this will be available to you if you pay them the requested fee.
Reality is completely different. The truth is that timeshares are next to impossible to sell. There's almost no secondary market for timeshares, especially given the current economy and all of the problems in the housing market. Furthermore, if there really was a strong secondary market, these companies wouldn't have to charge a fee, they could make more money charging commissions on sales. The bottom line is that you should not pay any upfront fees to sell your timeshare to somebody else. Check out the Florida AG's website also:

There are legitimate title transfer companies that will actually purchase a timeshare, and the benefit to the timeshare owner is that when closed, it gets them out from under the continuing obligations for common area fees. But the whole industry is hot with scams and fraud.
Be aware of a sequence of slick sales tricks - here are some scenarios:
1) The timeshare company offers to list your timeshare and you pay them a marketing fee, but after a few months when it doesn't sell they try to upsell you into an upgraded marketing package of some sort for more exposure (and more money) with so called guaranteed results.
2) After a few months of it still not selling they then offer to do you a favor and take it off of your hands for free so that you don't have to pay the monthly maintenence fees. The monthly expenses are a cost burden to many people who become desperate to get out from under these. These companies know that and use it against you.
3) They try to convince you to turn over the timeshare and "take it off of your hands" for free - now they really start marketing your timeshare, which they now own, and they sell it at a profit. The point is that the only timeshares they are actually selling are the ones that they themselves own through their process of psychologically wearing down so many timeshare owners and convincing them to give up their timeshare properties.

Unfortunately, I did not ask the representative for an address but I can. Mean while, I will research the information you provided and see what I can uncover. I found them by their address listed as Resort Pros Network. I linked the report. We have them as timeshare advertisers but if they are offering something different, please refer to my original response with the helpful tips.
I notify the BBB of your inquiry to look further into this.

I have been contacted by them too. The BBB rating is NR - reading on their site what that could be doesn't make them very reputable. Anyone had success with them??

Susan, When any BBB report is NR it means the company is being reviewed or updated.The BBB has reports on both members and non-members and ratings are applied based on the company as a whole. They could have an A+ rating based on an excellent company history with the BBB or they could have a F rating based on company factors which would cause the BBB concern. Either way the consumer is provided the information and it's primarily up to the consumer to be "buyer beware" and make a conscience decision on whether to do business with any company, member or not.

Its a scam, DONT EVER PAY UPFRONT FOR SELLING A TIMESHARE.....go to ebay and do a completed search for your timeshare....timeshares are selling for $1 to $100, anyone who tells you differently is crazy

I was contacted today by them also, but the agent was in florida, and gave the same sales pitch. the phone number i received was :1-888-406-7971.
I tried to sell a Timeshare before and use a Real Estate Company in the resort area twhere I purchased it, but I got lucky. The original Company I purchased it from wanted to resell them. I purchased it for $10,000. and they purchased it back for $7,000.00, but I also had to pay a commission to the Sales agent., but that was better than the $100.00 that one company told me I would receive.
